Fairness 4 Fans - faq's
3. Who is to blame for rising ticket prices?
- The players?
The players take whatever's on offer - (most of us would do the same).
- The football clubs?
The football clubs pay whatever they can afford - to get the players they want
No individual is to blame - it's just
the environment which is the cause of escalating ticket prices.
If anyone is to blame - it's the
fans - for paying higher prices for tickets. It's a shame, because £billions is ploughed into the sport via television, merchandising, sponsorship and corporate hospitality. This money is enough to fund the entire game, there is no real need to sell tickets as well. The reason why clubs sell tickets and continue to push up prices is because - like all businesses - they wish to maximise revenue.
Can fans effect the football environment?
Yes. Fans are what the game is all about; fans drive the game, yet are treated like cattle with no respect.
